This long paper -or short book- tackles the issues of the theory of action implied in the modernist constitution, theory that renders the presence of divinities in the ethnopsychiatric cure incomprehensible. Instead, it is the anti-fetishist reflexes of the critical theory which are studied and overturned. A new definition of fetish is given, one that makes possible constructivism and realism in science as well as in ethnospsychatry. But for this another definition of human action is needed and also a deeply depsychologized definition of the subject. Equipped with those definitions, an interpretation of Tobie Nathan’s cure is offered.
